Design has always grounded me throughout my educational journey. My love for art and creativity started in elementary school where I saw myself becoming an artist, creative director, and even a shoe designer. Eventually, I became interested in exploring design within the school context wanting to use my creativity to help rethink how to improve systems. Throughout my academic career I worked in supportive roles gaining knowledge and experience in helping students progress towards their learning goals. While I enjoyed mentorship, I always felt that schools weren’t designed to bring out the best in students and teachers.

I entered grad school with a vision of using design to reimagine the way that campuses function to promote student outcomes. From policy to practice to research. The idea for DESK.STUDIO came from a policy memo I wrote that addressed learning design and teacher preparation. I envisioned an environment where teachers could effectively utilize the summer to plan their yearly learning. Attention to the status quo helped shift my paradigm when it came to the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to make this possible.

With a goal of pursuing PHD studies, this space is my way of sharing my passions, inspiration and creative vision for the future with those working within schools and communities. I hope that it sparks joy in your journey to creating meaningful learning experiences.
